Florida State President addresses athletic department struggles

Florida State University President Richard McCullough issued a message to fans addressing the university’s recent athletic performance and the ongoing search for a new athletic director. Following the dismissal of former athletic director Michael Alford last month, Bruce Warwick has been named interim athletic director while the university evaluates the structure of its athletics leadership.

The university's football program has faced significant challenges, holding a 3-4 record this season and a 10-21 record since 2024. In his communication, McCullough acknowledged fan frustration, stating, “We are not asking you to ignore the results. We are committed to changing them.” He emphasized that the university is working on a methodical plan to position Florida State for sustained success and high-level competition.
