Florida surgeon to perform first robotic nipple-sparing mastectomy

Dr. Davina McCray of AdventHealth is set to perform Central Florida’s first robotic nipple-sparing mastectomy. This advanced surgical technique utilizes a much smaller incision and an articulating console camera to allow for more precise tissue removal.

Unlike traditional methods that often rely on longer incisions and can lead to nerve damage or loss of sensation, the robotic approach aims to preserve critical blood flow and nerve sensation. This precision is intended to improve aesthetic outcomes during reconstruction and enhance the overall quality of life for breast cancer survivors.
