Florida universities see declines in U.S. News & World Report rankings
Several Florida universities experienced declines in the latest U.S. News & World Report national rankings. The University of Florida dropped one spot to No. 8, while Florida State University fell three spots to No. 24. The University of South Florida also saw a three-spot decline, moving from No. 43 to No. 46.
New College of Florida reported a significant downward trend, falling 15 spots to No. 150 among National Liberal Arts Colleges. The Novo Collegian Alliance, an alumni group, noted that the school has dropped 74 spots over the last four editions. The group attributed this decline to faculty turnover, changes in admissions, and increased spending on athletics at the expense of student housing.
Conversely, some institutions saw improvements. Florida A&M University rose 13 places to No. 79, and Florida Atlantic University moved to No. 99. Florida International University maintained its position at No. 46.
