Florida weather: High heat and increasing storm chances

Central Florida and the North Escambia area are facing a period of high heat and humidity, with heat index values expected to reach as high as 105 degrees.

Weather patterns indicate increasing chances of showers and thunderstorms throughout the week. While early in the week may see more isolated activity, moisture is expected to build midweek, raising the probability of storms to between 50% and 80% from Wednesday through the weekend. Forecasters warn of potential impacts including strong wind gusts, frequent lightning, and torrential downpours that could lead to localized flooding.

In the Atlantic, meteorologists are monitoring two areas of potential tropical development. INVEST 95L, located east of Bermuda, has a 50% chance of development over the next five days, though it currently poses no threat to Florida.
