Florida woman charged with attempted murder after shooting boyfriend’s companion
Katherine Kelly, 24, of Cocoa, Florida, has been charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery with a weapon, and shooting into an occupied vehicle following a confrontation in Port St. John.
According to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, Kelly tracked her boyfriend, Elijah Baker, by monitoring his location after he took her Volkswagen for a drive. Kelly arranged an Uber to follow the vehicle to a location where she found Baker with another woman, Angel Adenau. Kelly then fired a pink-and-black Glock handgun through the passenger side window, striking Adenau in the shoulder.
Investigators noted that Kelly had previously sent text messages threatening to shoot someone. While she initially claimed she acted in self-defense, she later told authorities she opened fire to “make a point” regarding Baker’s alleged infidelity. Kelly also expressed a belief in “karma” during questioning. Adenau was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
