Florin Salam questioned by DIICOT in Bucharest human trafficking case
Singer Florin Salam was questioned as a witness by DIICOT on Friday regarding an investigation into an organized crime group operating in Bucharest. The case involves the use of a nightclub, ‘The Buddhist’ in Sector 5, as a front for human trafficking and pimping.
The investigation, which began in February, alleges that a group led by the club's owner generated over 19 million lei through the exploitation of young women. Victims were reportedly recruited online under the guise of dance jobs but were forced into prostitution. The group targeted vulnerable individuals, including those with limited education, financial difficulties, or mental health issues.
Other notable figures have also been questioned as witnesses in the case, including singer Andrei Velcu (known as Tzancă Uraganu) and actor Vlad Marinescu. The criminal group maintained strict control over victims through a system of tracking clients and earnings, including penalties for those who did not meet specific targets.
