Florina School of Fine Arts officials seek temporary housing solutions

Officials from the Western Macedonia Region, the Municipality of Florina, and the University of Western Macedonia met in the Armenochori community to inspect potential sites for the temporary housing of the Florina School of Fine Arts.

Regional Governor Giorgos Amanatidis stated that the region intends to assist in the maintenance and improvement of these spaces to meet immediate needs while working toward a permanent solution. He noted that the regional authority is collaborating with the Ministries of Education and Finance to secure 21 million euros in funding for new, permanent school facilities.

Local critics have questioned the effectiveness of these measures, pointing to a prior decision by the Public Employment Service (DYPA) to grant the university the use of 300 square meters of space at the EPAS Apprenticeship complex in Florina for five years. Critics argue that the regional administration should have already utilized this existing provision to house the school's laboratories.
