Flotación 2026 mining congress concludes in Lima
The VII International Mineral Flotation Congress, known as Flotación 2026, concluded in Lima, Peru, after two days of sessions on August 20 and 21. Organized by InterMet, the event gathered over 500 participants from four continents, including mining company representatives, technology providers, and industry specialists.
Under the presidency of Karim Batallanos, general manager of Compañía Minera Antapaccay – Glencore, the congress focused on improving operational performance through new technologies and applied experiences. Key topics included clay control, copper and molybdenum recovery, geometallurgy, artificial intelligence, digital twins, mineralogical characterization, and flotation circuit design.
During the closing ceremony, InterMet announced Hernando Valdivia, Metallurgy Superintendent at Antamina, as the president for the Flotación 2028 congress. Alfredo Olaya, general manager of InterMet, noted the success of the event in facilitating the exchange of knowledge and best practices within the mining industry.
