Flox Intelligence seeks funding to expand AI wildlife deterrent systems
Flox Intelligence, an AI startup, is seeking $10 million in Series A funding to expand its wildlife deterrent technology. The company develops battery-powered devices that utilize motion sensors, cameras, and AI models to identify animal species and emit specific sounds to redirect them away from critical infrastructure such as airports, railways, and roads.
The technology processes data directly on the device to identify animals and adjust deterrent sounds based on behavior, preventing animals from becoming accustomed to the signals. Flox currently operates approximately 150 devices across North America, Europe, and Australia. The company also provides a monitoring platform for regulatory compliance and biodiversity tracking.
Addressing wildlife collisions is a significant economic priority. In Europe, bird and mammal incidents at airports caused 263 declared incidents in 2025. Globally, the aviation sector estimates costs from repairs and delays at over €800 million annually, while the US Federal Aviation Administration estimates wildlife strikes cost American civil aviation approximately $272 million per year on average.
