Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Ryan Garcia comeback rumors spark debate

Speculation regarding a potential professional comeback for Floyd Mayweather Jr. against Ryan Garcia has drawn commentary from industry figures. Former unified welterweight champion Keith Thurman expressed skepticism about the matchup, suggesting that Mayweather’s age and inactivity would make a 12-round fight unfavorable against a younger, active opponent like Garcia. Thurman compared the potential bout to the historic Larry Holmes versus Muhammad Ali fight, questioning if the pursuit is driven by ego.

In other boxing news, Riku Masuda is scheduled to defend his WBA bantamweight title against Seiya Tsutsumi on November 29 at the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo. Tsutsumi is the only professional fighter to have defeated Masuda, having won their previous encounter in 2023. The Tokyo event will also feature title defenses by Kenshiro Teraji and David Jimenez.
