Floyd Schofield and Lucas Bahdi fight for vacant WBA lightweight title

Undefeated lightweight contenders Floyd Schofield and Lucas Bahdi are set to face each other for the vacant WBA lightweight title at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago. The 12-round championship bout follows the WBA designating Gervonta Davis as its ‘Champion in Recess’.

Schofield, the WBA’s No. 1 contender, enters the fight with a 19-0 record. Bahdi, the No. 2 contender, holds a 20-0 record. Both fighters successfully passed a second-day weight check, weighing in at 143 pounds and 142.8 pounds, respectively, resolving previous disputes regarding the weight limit.

The event, co-promoted by Golden Boy Promotions and Most Valuable Promotions, features a high-profile undercard. Ricardo Sandoval is scheduled to defend his unified WBA and WBC flyweight titles against Mexico’s Sergio Mendoza. Other scheduled bouts include Jahmal Harvey versus Pedro Castaneda and Jan Paul Rivera against Abraham Perfecto Valdez.
