Floyd Schofield and Lucas Bahdi to fight for vacant WBA lightweight title

Floyd Schofield and Lucas Bahdi are scheduled to fight for the vacant WBA lightweight title on October 10 in Chicago. The matchup follows the WBA designating Gervonta Davis as “champion in recess” in June.

Schofield, an undefeated 23-year-old from New Jersey with a 19-0 record, is ranked as the No. 1 contender by the WBA. Bahdi, a 32-year-old from Canada with a 20-0 record, is ranked No. 2. Both fighters have finalized paperwork to avoid a purse bid, with Golden Boy and Most Valuable Promotions reaching terms for the bout.

Schofield most recently secured a first-round knockout against Tevin Farmer, while Bahdi enters the fight following consecutive victories over Roger Gutierrez and Ryan James Racaza.
