Fluminense excels in youth futsal as it rejects 6.9 bn‑real SAF offer

Fluminense's futsal academy posted an outstanding first half of the 2026 season, winning state titles in the Sub‑12 and Sub‑13 categories and leading the Sub‑6 competition unbeaten. Across all age groups the club recorded 136 victories in 162 matches, an overall win rate above 83%, and topped the state championship with the top scorer in every division from Sub‑7 to Sub‑13.

At the same time, the club's board turned down an initial 6.9 billion‑real proposal from investment fund Lazuli Partners to convert Fluminense into a Sociedade Anônima de Futebol (SAF). The offer included a 500 million‑real upfront payment and the assumption of the club's 871 million‑real debt. President Mattheus Montenegro said the club will negotiate a higher initial cheque and better contract terms before any shareholder vote, emphasizing the need to know the investor and protect the club's identity.
