Fluminense faces multiple injury setbacks for season end
Fluminense is dealing with significant roster shortages following a series of injuries to key players. Midfielder Martinelli is set to undergo arthroscopy for a lateral meniscus injury in his left knee. The procedure is expected to require a six-week recovery period, which will also cause him to miss upcoming international friendly matches with the Brazilian national team.
Additionally, defender Julián Millán has been diagnosed with a grade 2 injury to his right adductor muscle. Millán is expected to be sidelined for four to six weeks, potentially missing the final matches of the 2026 season. These absences come as the club focuses on the Campeonato Brasileiro following their elimination from the Copa Libertadores semifinals.
In separate news, Chelsea goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez is recovering from surgery to repair a fractured jaw and a concussion sustained during a collision with Everton's Jarrad Branthwaite. Manager Xabi Alonso indicated that Martínez will be unavailable for several weeks, with some reports suggesting a minimum absence of 40 days.
