Fluminense manager Marcão prepares squad for upcoming Série A match
Fluminense manager Marcão has a free week to prepare the squad before their next Série A match against Athletico-PR on Sunday (30). The break is intended to allow for tactical adjustments and player recovery.
Captain Thiago Silva has been working closely with goalkeeper Fábio and the coaching staff to address defensive vulnerabilities, specifically regarding aerial balls. Silva noted that they implemented adjustments in concentration during recent matches to mitigate risks from set pieces. While defensive aerial play has been a concern—accounting for approximately 55% of goals conceded in the Brasileirão—the team has found offensive success through similar plays, with five of their last six goals resulting from crosses into the area.
Regarding squad availability, the club hopes to welcome back attacker Savarino and defender Freytes. However, the medical department is monitoring right-back Samuel Xavier, who is undergoing imaging tests following a left shoulder dislocation sustained during the victory over Remo.
