Fluminense midfielder Martinelli advances injury recovery
Fluminense midfielder Martinelli has reached a new stage in his rehabilitation after undergoing arthroscopy to treat a left knee meniscus injury. The 25-year-old player has begun running on an anti-gravity treadmill at the CT Carlos Castilho training center, a tool designed to reduce joint load and accelerate the return to activity.
The injury occurred during a Libertadores semifinal match against Palmeiras on October 14. While the initial recovery estimate was approximately six weeks, his progress on the treadmill has provided encouragement to the club's medical department.
Fluminense's technical staff may decide whether to rush his return or prioritize his long-term health based on the team's standing in the league standings. In his absence, the team has utilized players such as Hercules and Nonato in the defensive midfield position.
