FluorKin children's mouthwash recalled due to bacterial contamination

The Spanish Agency of Medicines and Health Products (AEMPS) has issued a serious health alert regarding the recall of FluorKin strawberry-flavored children's mouthwash. The recall was ordered following laboratory confirmation of contamination by the bacterium Burkholderia cepacia.

While this bacterium may not cause severe issues in healthy individuals, it poses a significant risk to vulnerable populations, particularly children with weakened immune systems or pre-existing health conditions. The contamination is described as a microbiological issue rather than a formulation error.

The recall affects four specific batches manufactured by Laboratorio Boniquet and distributed by Laboratorios Kin: batch 26B01, and the 2x1 packs labeled 26B04, 26B05, and 26B06. Authorities have ordered the immediate suspension of sales and the retrieval of these units from pharmacies and warehouses. Families are advised to check their product packaging and stop using the mouthwash if it matches the affected batch numbers.
