Flushing hosts multicultural Mid-Autumn Festival parade and fireworks

The Flushing Development Center hosted its 26th annual Mid-Autumn Festival ethnic parade and fireworks display in Flushing, Queens, on September 19. The event featured cultural performances and parades from groups representing 15 different countries, highlighting the multicultural nature of the New York City neighborhood.

Participants included Latin American dance troupes from countries such as Mexico, Ecuador, the Dominican Republic, Colombia, Trinidad, and Bolivia. The parade, which began near Main Street and concluded at Kissena Corridor Park, also featured a formation from the Francis Lewis High School Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps.

In addition to the parade, the festivities included a kite-flying event, a mooncake eating contest, and musical performances. The celebration also marked the 381st anniversary of the founding of Flushing, which traces its history back to 1645. The event concluded with a 15-minute fireworks display.
