Flushing, Queens Fire Injures 21, Critical Condition for 78-Year-Old
A fire broke out on 41st Road near College Point Boulevard in Flushing, Queens, quickly escalating to a five‑alarm blaze. The fire started on the first floor of a two‑story, wood‑frame home in a row of five similar buildings and spread to adjacent structures, prompting over 250 FD NY and EMS personnel to respond.
The incident injured 21 people, including 17 firefighters who suffered heat exhaustion, smoke inhalation and minor injuries. Among the victims, a 78‑year‑old woman was pulled from the building in critical condition.
