Flutter Entertainment implements global layoffs and brand closures

Flutter Entertainment is undergoing a significant global restructuring, resulting in widespread job cuts and the closure of several operations. The company has announced plans to reduce approximately 1,400 positions across its UK, Ireland, and Malta divisions.

In Brazil, Flutter is shutting down Betfair’s operations and reducing its workforce following a local ban on certain online betting activities. The group intends to consolidate its Brazilian presence by focusing exclusively on the Betnacional brand while awaiting regulatory clarity.

In Portugal, the Porto-based technology firm Blip, which specializes in software for sports betting and online casinos, has initiated a collective dismissal process. At least 84 employees are expected to be affected, with the quality and product departments among the most impacted. The company cited increased tax burdens on sports betting and online casinos as a primary driver for the restructuring.
