Flutterwave CEO Olugbenga Agboola named among top 100 global fintech leaders

Flutterwave CEO Olugbenga Agboola has been named among the world’s top 100 fintech leaders in the 2026 edition of FinTech Magazine. The recognition places Agboola alongside global industry figures such as Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong, Block CEO Jack Dorsey, and Stripe co-founder Patrick Collison.

Dr. Stanley Uzochukwu, founder of Stanel Group and The Delborough Lagos, congratulated Agboola, noting that the achievement reflects the growing influence of Nigerian entrepreneurs on the global stage. Uzochukwu highlighted Agboola’s role in developing Africa’s digital financial ecosystem and suggested the honor should inspire further innovation within Nigeria.

The recognition coincides with Flutterwave’s strategic expansion beyond traditional payment processing. In 2026, the company secured a Nigerian Microfinance Bank licence, enabling it to hold deposits directly and expand into business accounts and treasury products. Additionally, through the acquisition of the open banking platform Mono, Flutterwave has strengthened its position in the emerging open finance ecosystem and is developing multi-currency products to facilitate cross-border payments.
