FLUX festival brings contemporary jazz to Florence

The fifth edition of the “Flux – flussi di musica creativa” festival will take place at the PARC (Performing Arts Research Centre) in Florence from October 18 to December 6. Organized by Toscana Produzione Musica and directed by Maurizio Busia and Francesco Mariotti, the series focuses on contemporary creative music, blending international avant-garde influences with Italian talent.

The program features several high-profile performances, including an opening set by Italian saxophonist Roberto Ottaviano and British guitarist Rob Luft. Notable international acts include American guitarist Marc Ribot performing with bassist Farida Amadou and percussionist Ches Smith. The festival aims to explore the intersection of improvisation, research, and musical history through various generational and stylistic encounters.
