Flávia Almeida appointed president of São Paulo Museum of Art (MASP)

Flávia Almeida, formerly vice‑president of the São Paulo Museum of Art (MASP), will assume the museum’s presidency in September, succeeding Heitor Martins after his 12‑year tenure. Almeida holds a business administration degree from Fundação Getúlio Vargas and an MBA from Harvard University. She has directed the Fundação Bienal de São Paulo, sits on its board, chaired the board of Instituto Tomie Ohtake, and worked at McKinsey & Company before leading the family office of billionaire Abilio Diniz.

During Martins’s leadership, MASP was rescued from near‑bankruptcy, with R$75 million in debt in 2014. He raised roughly R$1.5 billion in investment, created a R$30 million reserve, and financed a R$275 million, 14‑story extension (Edifício Pietro Maria Bardi) that opened in March 2025. Upon stepping down, Martins will become president of the museum’s board while Marcelo Hallack moves to vice‑president.
