Flávio Bolsonaro faces scrutiny over incorrect academic credentials

Flávio Bolsonaro, a presidential candidate for the Liberal Party (PL), is facing scrutiny after official profiles on the Senate and the Legislative Assembly of Rio de Janeiro (Alerj) websites incorrectly listed a postgraduate degree in Political Science from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). UFRJ has confirmed it has no academic record of the senator attending the institution, noting that only his brother, Eduardo Bolsonaro, is registered as a graduate there.

Bolsonaro's campaign has attributed the discrepancy to "errors or mistakes," suggesting the information may have been incorrectly pulled from platforms like Wikipedia. The campaign clarified that the senator holds a Law degree from Cândido Mendes University, a postgraduate degree in Public Policy from IUPERJ, and an MBA from FGV.

In other campaign developments, Bolsonaro confirmed that Alfredo Gaspar will remain his vice-presidential running mate, dismissing allegations against Gaspar as a "farce." Additionally, his government platform includes proposals for a one-year quarantine for Supreme Federal Court (STF) appointees and the use of Fust funds to provide free data access for the Caixa app to support micro-entrepreneurs.
