Minas Gerais political alliances shift ahead of state elections
Political movements in Minas Gerais are intensifying as candidates for the state government clarify their positions and alliances. Senator Flávio Bolsonaro has reaffirmed his support for Flávio Roscoe in the race for the Minas Gerais government, while noting he does not reject the favorable stance taken by Senator Cleitinho Azevedo.
In a notable shift, Jackeliny Pereira do Nascimento, the mayor of Frei Gaspar and a member of the Workers' Party (PT), announced her support for Senator Cleitinho Azevedo for the state government. This move creates a contradiction within her party, as the PT's official candidate for the same position is Patrus Ananias, a figure endorsed by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
Patrus Ananias has also outlined his economic platform, stating he would rule out the federalization of Codemig and Cemig. Regarding Copasa, he indicated he would maintain its privatized status provided the company meets specific commitments to water supply and basic sanitation, though he remains open to revisiting the situation if obligations are not met.
