Flávio Bolsonaro leads Lula in simulated second-round runoff FAST-MOVING
A new Quaest poll reveals a shift in the Brazilian presidential race, showing Senator Flávio Bolsonaro leading President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in a simulated second-round runoff. Bolsonaro holds 42% of the vote compared to Lula's 40%, a result that constitutes a technical tie within the two-percentage-point margin of error.
In the first-round simulation, Lula maintains a lead with 36% of the vote, while Bolsonaro follows with 31%. Other candidates include Augusto Cury at 7%, with Renan Santos and Ronaldo Caiado both at 4%. The poll, conducted between September 10 and 13 among 2,004 voters, indicates that Bolsonaro's growth is particularly notable in the Southeast region and among male and independent voters.
Both major candidates face a 55% rejection rate. The survey results were released amid ongoing political scrutiny involving the Supreme Federal Court and investigations related to Banco Master.
