Flávio Bolsonaro proposes tax revocations and labor deregulation

Flávio Bolsonaro’s economic and labor proposals are drawing scrutiny regarding their potential impact on workers' rights and the national tax structure. Economic coordinator Daniella Marques stated that Bolsonaro has instructed his team to revoke taxes created or increased during Fernando Haddad’s tenure at the Ministry of Finance. Key priorities include reducing the 12% export tax on petroleum and returning the Tax on Financial Operations (IOF) to 2022 levels.

Marques also clarified that there are no plans to privatize Caixa Econômica Federal, emphasizing its strategic importance.

Simultaneously, analysts from Agência Sindical have criticized Bolsonaro’s labor platform, arguing it promotes deregulation and weakens collective bargaining. The critique suggests the plan focuses on individual market opportunities rather than structural development, which the authors claim could lead to the precarization of labor and a direct attack on the role of labor unions in mediating relations between capital and workers.
