Flávio Bolsonaro unveils 2026 presidential platform
Flávio Bolsonaro, the Liberal Party (PL) candidate for the 2026 Brazilian presidential election, has outlined a government platform centered on economic liberalism, public security, and state reduction. His economic proposals include simplifying the tax system, reducing bureaucracy, and privatizing or granting concessions for state-owned companies to mitigate fiscal deficits.
On public security, the plan advocates for harsher penalties, increased police resources, and a review of benefits for repeat offenders. It also seeks to provide greater legal security for law enforcement during operations and defend the right to self-defense.
Regarding administration, the platform aims to control public sector payroll growth through intensive digitalization and prioritized resource allocation toward health, education, and infrastructure.
Meanwhile, Bolsonaro’s running mate, Deputy Alfredo Gaspar, dismissed concerns regarding potential political scandals. Gaspar stated that the campaign has moved past previous controversies involving the financing of a biopic about Jair Bolsonaro, asserting that there will be no further ‘surprises’ regarding the candidate.
