Flávio Bolsonaro biography denies 1964 coup and praises military figures
A 2017 biography of Jair Bolsonaro, written by his son and current presidential candidate Flávio Bolsonaro, has resurfaced, highlighting controversial political stances. In the nearly 200-page work, Flávio denies that the 1964 military intervention in Brazil constituted a coup, arguing instead that the removal of President João Goulart had constitutional backing from Congress. He describes the military as national heroes who prevented a socialist dictatorship.
The book also praises Colonel Carlos Alberto Brilhante Ustra, a figure recognized by the judiciary as a torturer, calling him an "integro" man who defended the nation. Additionally, Flávio questions the reliability of electronic voting machines and criticizes the Truth Commission as a revanchist initiative.
Several themes from the book, including the reduction of the criminal age, chemical castration for rapists, and the 'Escola sem Partido' (School without Party) movement, have been integrated into Flávio Bolsonaro’s current political platform and campaign program.
