The British Financial Times reported that the biopic “Dark Horse”, portraying former president Jair Bolsonaro, has become a political liability for senator Flávio Bolsonaro. Investigations revealed that banker Daniel Vorcaro, owner of Banco Master, transferred roughly R$ 61 million to the film between February and May 2025, part of an estimated R$ 134 million budget. Messages released by The Intercept Brazil show Flávio calling Vorcario “brother” and pressuring him for further funds, raising allegations of illicit financing.

The scandal emerges as Flávio positions himself as the main right‑wing challenger to President Luiz Inácio Lula in the 2026 election, following his father Jair Bolsonaro’s 27‑year prison sentence for an attempted coup.
