Fly Dar Airlines receives first private Syrian aviation certificate since 2024
Syria’s General Authority of Civil Aviation and Air Transport has granted an air operator certificate to Fly Dar Airlines, marking the first time a private Syrian carrier has received such certification since December 2024.
Omar Hosari, head of the authority, stated that the approval signifies a new phase for the nation’s aviation sector and reflects increasing interest from domestic investors. The certification allows Fly Dar to begin operations under Syrian aviation regulations after meeting necessary technical and operational requirements.
The move is part of a broader strategic plan extending to 2030 aimed at rebuilding the aviation industry. This initiative includes airport rehabilitation, infrastructure upgrades, and the modernization of air-navigation systems. The government intends to leverage Syria’s geographic position to establish the country as a transport link between the Gulf, the Levant, and Europe.
