Flyers and Raptors face preseason challenges

In NHL preseason action, the Philadelphia Flyers suffered a 5-1 loss to the Washington Capitals. Despite a strong offensive showing from players like Matvei Michkov and Jamie Drysdale, the game shifted in the second period following a defensive error by David Jiricek. Goaltender Aleksei Kolosov played the full 60 minutes and faced significant criticism for his performance during the loss.

In the NBA, the Toronto Raptors enter the 2026-27 preseason facing critical questions regarding their roster construction. Following the decision to trade for Kawhi Leonard to support Scottie Barnes, the team must determine if its young talent, including Collin Murray-Boyles, Jamal Shead, and Ja’Kobe Walter, can provide sufficient scoring to compete at a championship level.
