FM-Day conference explores AI and sustainability in building management

The 11th FM-Day conference, held at the Park Hyatt Vienna, focused on integrating artificial intelligence, building data, and climate goals to improve facility management. Industry experts from FMA and IFMA Austria discussed how AI can assist in building operations, though researchers emphasized that AI-generated results still require professional human verification to ensure accuracy.

Technological advancements such as sensors, digital twins, and heat recovery from wastewater were highlighted as tools for efficiency. One case study at the University of Vienna Biology Center demonstrated that optimizing operations could save approximately 250,000 euros in energy costs over a four-month period.

The event also featured the CO2 Countdown Awards, recognizing various climate protection projects in the building sector, including initiatives by Tirol Kliniken, Caverion Österreich, Raiffeisen-Landesbank Steiermark, and ÖBB-Infrastruktur.
