FNA calls for Italian government aid amid rising fuel costs
The National Agriculture Federation (FNA) has issued a formal request to the Italian Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry, calling for urgent intervention to address rising fuel costs.
FNA Secretary General Cosimo Nesci stated that increasing diesel prices are placing unsustainable burdens on farmers, affecting field preparation, machinery use, harvesting, and transport. The federation warns that these rising expenses, coupled with a lack of corresponding increases in product prices, threaten the income and viability of agricultural activities.
Additionally, the FNA highlighted the challenge of competition from imported agricultural products sold at lower prices, which may benefit from different production costs. The organization is calling for concrete measures to contain the impact of price hikes and ensure fair competition and transparency regarding product origins.
