FNEG issues first official e-sports licenses in Guinea

The National E-Sport Federation of Guinea (FNEG) has officially issued the country’s first competition licenses to over 100 players. This move marks a transition for e-sports in Guinea from an informal activity practiced in gaming halls and online to a regulated institutional framework.

By obtaining these licenses, players gain recognized athlete status, allowing them to participate in official national competitions and potentially qualify for future national selections to represent Guinea abroad. The licensing system is also designed to provide a structured ecosystem for sponsors and businesses to engage with the sport.

FNEG President Malian Thiam credited the Ministry of Sports for its support in this initiative. The formalization aims to help the state track practitioners and integrate e-sports into the national sports policy as the industry prepares for the 2026-2027 season.
