Fântâna Mare Commune launches €848k photovoltaic energy project

The Fântâna Mare Commune in Suceava County has started a photovoltaic installation project funded through Romania's Modernization Fund. The total investment amounts to 848,422.08 lei, with up to 100 % of eligible expenses (650,829.03 lei) covered by the fund and the remainder (197,593.05 lei) provided by the commune. The initiative aims to generate 0.10 MW of renewable electricity for self‑consumption, increase the plant’s capacity factor to 13.10 %, and reduce annual CO₂ emissions by an estimated 70.22 tonnes.

The project, identified by SMIS code 315289, will be implemented on public land within the commune and includes technical documentation, project management, public outreach, construction, financial audit, and quality verification. It is scheduled to be completed no later than 31 December 2026, aligning with EU regulations governing the Modernization Fund.
