FOA warns against new nursery placements in Als

FOA Nordjylland has expressed concerns regarding plans to establish new nursery placements in the Als region. Bente Linnemann, a representative for daycare providers, stated that there is currently no shortage of childcare spots in the Havbakkedistriktet area, noting that child numbers remain stable according to municipal assessments.

Linnemann warned that investing in permanent nursery facilities could negatively impact the daycare sector by reducing the number of children and providers available in home-based settings. She highlighted that nursery placements cost approximately 55,000 DKK more per child annually than daycare placements and argued that daycare offers a more flexible, cost-effective solution for the municipality.
