Foce Varano receives public potable water after 50 years

After more than 50 years, potable water from the public network has finally arrived in Foce Varano, a seaside area of Ischitella in the province of Foggia. The inauguration of the first public utility, including a municipal fountain and restrooms, follows the formal handover of the pipeline to Acquedotto Pugliese (AQP).

The new network covers Torre Varano, Contrada Palude, and Viale Uria, with the potential to serve at least 1,000 users. The project had been stalled for over 16 years due to technical and administrative complications, including incomplete works and fragmented construction lots that prevented AQP from officially taking charge of the network.

Regional Councilor for Infrastructure and Mobility, Raffaele Piemontese, noted that while inaugurating a public fountain may seem minor, the service is essential for a community that has waited decades for basic access. The resolution involved utilizing existing infrastructure and implementing a new technical solution by connecting to the Lido del Sole system through the collaborative efforts of the Municipality of Ischitella, the Puglia Region, AQP, and the Puglia Water Authority.
