Focused Energy targets commercial laser fusion within 15 years
In Darmstadt, Germany, the startup Focused Energy is working to develop laser fusion technology for industrial use. The company aims to launch its first commercial laser-fusion power plant in at least 15 years.

Professor Sven Linow of the Hessian state government's Scientific Climate Advisory Board expressed doubt regarding continued heavy investment, stating that the technology has not yet been proven to work. While experiments in the United States have successfully demonstrated energy release through the fusion of light atomic nuclei using high-power lasers, scaling these complex processes for a stable consumer electricity supply remains a significant challenge.
