Fog forces Inter San Carlos–Herediano match to pause

On 2 August 2026, the Costa Rican league match between Inter San Carlos and Club Sport Herediano at the Carlos Ugalde stadium was repeatedly disrupted by dense fog. Play continued into the second half but visibility deteriorated to the point that officials halted the game after 65 minutes. A brief rain shower later cleared the fog, allowing the match to resume under the rules that grant an additional 30‑minute period. The encounter ended in a 1‑1 draw.

The match also featured several contentious moments, including a disputed penalty and a VAR‑overturned goal, but the primary reason for the interruption was the unexpected fog that made the field unplayable for both players and officials.
