Foggia: 21-year-old arrested for alleged sexual violence and robbery

A 21-year-old man has been arrested in Foggia, Italy, on charges of sexual violence, aggravated injury, and robbery following an alleged attack on a 16-year-old girl in June.

The victim reported that during a drive toward Foggia on the night of June 14, the suspect diverted to a rural area, demanded sex, and physically assaulted her. She further alleged that he stole her mobile phone while she attempted to call emergency services and that she was dragged for several meters when he drove away.

During his interrogation, the suspect denied all accusations, claiming the teenager was intoxicated and had initiated advances toward him. He also admitted to driving a rental car without a license but denied the violent aspects of the report. Defense counsel has requested that the suspect be moved from prison to house arrest with an electronic bracelet.

Prosecutors are basing their case on medical reports, testimonies from first responders, and an audio recording of the victim's emergency call made during the assault. Evidence also includes messages sent by the suspect regarding a potential attempt to pay the victim's family to withdraw the complaint.
