Foggia approves 64 new public housing units and historic center revitalization
The Foggia municipal government has approved a proposal to allow Arca Capitanata to construct 64 new public residential housing units. This project follows a ministerial funding allocation of nearly ten million euros. Due to the collapse of a previous agreement regarding the ‘Cittadella Ecologica S. Maria’, the administration is considering a building permit by derogation to utilize land acquired at auction for public housing.
Additionally, the council approved a plan to revitalize the city's historic center by installing works of art in public spaces. Urban Planning Councilor Michele Salatto stated that this initiative is part of a broader redevelopment strategy, which includes ongoing projects with ENEA for Piazza Mercato and Via Arpi, aiming to involve both local and international artists to improve the city's image and decorum.
Other approved measures include updates to the 2024-2026 Three-Year Plan for Informatics and Digital Transition, a manual for cybersecurity and incident management, and the city's institutional partnership with Intersos for the ‘Stable-Mig’ project under the Horizon Europe program.
