Foggia: Armed group attempts armored car robbery on A14

An armed commando attempted to hijack an armored cash transport vehicle on the A14 motorway between Foggia and Cerignola on October 5. The incident occurred around 1:30 PM near the Foggia Zona Industriale toll booth.

The attackers, wearing masks to conceal their identities, utilized several tactics to facilitate their escape and hinder law enforcement. They deployed road spikes across the asphalt and set fire to four vehicles to create blockades. During the assault, multiple gunshots were fired.

The robbery attempt was unsuccessful, and the security guards on board the vehicle were not injured. The suspects fled the scene and are currently being sought by authorities. The incident caused significant traffic disruptions, resulting in the A14 being blocked in both directions with long queues and diversions.
