Italian authorities dismantle vehicle theft ring and cigarette smuggling network

Italian law enforcement agencies have conducted several operations targeting organized crime across various regions. In Foggia, a criminal group specialized in the theft, cannibalization, and recycling of stolen vehicles has been dismantled, resulting in eight arrests.

In a separate investigation coordinated by the Foggia Prosecutor's Office, the Guardia di Finanza targeted a cigarette smuggling ring operating between Puglia and Campania. Eight individuals faced precautionary measures, including house arrest for four residents of Naples and residence restrictions for four others in the Foggia province, following the discovery of clandestine tobacco warehouses in Naples.

Additionally, Carabinieri operations led to drug-related arrests in Spoleto and Poggibonsi. In Spoleto, a 21-year-old was arrested for cocaine possession and resisting public officials near the Marroggia stream. In Poggibonsi, a 19-year-old was apprehended in a wooded area with cocaine, heroin, and hashish.

In Bisceglie, a fuel station in via Kuwait was the target of a failed robbery attempt during the night of September 25-26. This marks the second attempt at this specific location in recent months, following a successful theft at the same site in July.
