Foggia man accused of orchestrating 900 euro live betting scam
A man from Lucera has been accused of orchestrating a sophisticated ‘live betting’ scam at Bar Cocò in Foggia. The suspect placed a 900 euro live bet, which was validated by the system before payment could be collected. When attempting to settle the debt, the man presented an American Express card that was rejected by all three available POS terminals.
After claiming he would withdraw cash from a nearby ATM, the individual contacted the business via message, requesting IBAN details for an instant bank transfer. He subsequently provided a forged receipt via email. The fraudulent document falsely indicated a transfer of 1,200 euros, an attempt intended to trick the manager into validating an additional 300 euro bet. The business owner has reported the incident to the authorities and is warning other local betting shops about the serial offender.
