Foggia Policlinico activates six new operating rooms

The Emergency and Urgency Department (DEU) at the Policlinico Foggia has officially begun surgical operations in six new operating rooms. The first procedures, involving vascular surgery and cardiac surgery, were performed on November 3, 2026.

The new facility includes a multi-specialty hybrid operating room and specialized spaces for neurosurgery, thoracic surgery, and interventional radiology. The rollout of these rooms will continue through mid-November, with neurosurgery scheduled to begin on November 10 and angiography procedures on November 18.

This expansion is intended to free up capacity in the hospital's existing 12 operating rooms, allowing for more general surgery and orthopedic procedures to reduce waiting lists and patient mobility. The project was funded by 10 million euros from the Development and Cohesion Fund (FSC).
