Foggia pursues European City of Sport title and reopens major library
The city of Foggia is pursuing several major cultural and athletic milestones. The municipality has officially submitted its candidacy to Aces Europe to become a European City of Sport for 2028. The 160-page dossier outlines the city's vision, recent investments, and plans for upgrading sports facilities to promote health and social inclusion.
In addition to its sporting ambitions, Foggia is set to reopen the “La Magna Capitana” library on September 1 following a three-year closure. The reopening coincides with Foggia being named a “Città che legge” (City that Reads) for the 2024-2026 period by the Center for Books and Reading, where it ranked second nationally among cities with over 100,000 inhabitants.
