Foggia stakeholders call for improved governance and inclusive urban planning
In Foggia, local stakeholders are calling for structural changes to address urban management and planning. Potito Salatto, president of Confindustria Foggia, has urged Mayor Maria Aida Episcopo to establish a permanent institutional table for dialogue. This proposal aims to move beyond written correspondence to address critical issues such as negative migration rates, urban decorum, security, and food hygiene controls.
Simultaneously, the association LIA APS is advocating for the city's General Urban Plan (PUG) to incorporate gender-responsive urbanism. The group argues that urban planning must account for the diverse ways women, children, the elderly, and people with disabilities experience public spaces. They emphasize that the new plan should use disaggregated data to improve services, lighting, and transportation, ensuring the city is designed for all citizens rather than following traditional male-centric models.
