Foinikounda double homicide: Prosecutor proposes trial for five suspects

The Prosecutor of Kalamata has submitted an 86-page proposal requesting that five detainees be referred to trial for the double homicide that occurred at the ‘Ammos’ campsite in Foinikounda, Messenia. The incident, which took place on the night of October 5, 2025, resulted in the deaths of the campsite owner, Konstantinos Tomaras, and his friend and supervisor, Vasileios Giannopoulos.

The prosecutor’s proposal includes charges for one suspect, identified as H.T., who is alleged to be the physical perpetrator. He faces charges of intentional homicide for both victims, as well as attempted homicide related to a previous attack on September 7, 2025, and illegal possession of weapons. Another detainee, I.M., is proposed for trial for complicity in the September 7 attempted murder, a second attempted murder against Tomaras, and complicity in the October 5 double homicide.

Additionally, the proposal seeks trial for the victim's nephew on charges of moral instigation regarding the attempted murders and the double homicide. A close friend of the victim, an entrepreneur from Athens, is also facing proposed charges for moral instigation in the attempted murders. The prosecutor has recommended against charges for two other individuals involved in the case for harboring a criminal. The Messenia Misdemeanor Court Council will now review the investigative material to decide on the referrals and specific charges.
