Fokus and Republika political parties merge in Croatia

The political parties Fokus and Republika have signed an agreement to merge in Zagreb. The unified party will retain the name Fokus, with Gabrijel Deak remaining as president. Damir Vanđelić, the former leader of Republika, will serve as deputy president alongside Petra Škrobot, the mayor of Samobor.

The technical integration of the two parties is expected to be completed within the next month. This merger is framed as a strategic step in preparation for upcoming parliamentary elections. Leaders stated that the unification aims to create a stronger political alternative focused on economic liberalism, reduced bureaucracy, lower taxes, and more efficient state administration.

During the convention, Gabrijel Deak highlighted demographic and administrative concerns, noting that Croatia has lost 350,000 residents over the last decade while the state administration grew by at least 30,000 people. The party platform emphasizes individual freedom, entrepreneurship, judicial independence, and border security.
